Alice is good at stuff

Image
Time for an Alice post! That girl is finding her groove and making her way one Wheee ahh (that is the sound that Myrna makes) at time.   Alice is in gymnastics! And we finally had a day that we were allowed in to observe in person! Here she is totally vogue-ing. Here is her first circuit.    She also makes cool things with Magnatiles!  This amazing work she build on her own. Then I helped add the precarious decorations, although each item was of her own inspiration. She was able to identify and find all the things she could think of that were magnetic and add them. And have I mentioned her amazing fashion sense?

Draft dodging

Image
Matt has an annual baseball draft where a bunch of boys take over the house and order pizza with weird toppings on it. I normally go to my good friend Sarah's house in Indiana. But she moved to South Carolina! Way too inconvenient, maybe next year, so I took the kids to Milwaukee to stay in our favorite hotel and take in the town.  The trip begins with a stop at the fabulous Mars Cheese castle to stock up on all of the Wisconsin treats: cheese, beer, and processed meats. And balloons and crowns! Lunch with the King of Mars. First stop is the bio spheres, the Milwaukee Domes. Basically a botanical garden under three really big domes. They had a series of "world changing" plants. Brock and I posed by our favorites. - Coffee, duh Sugar, duh. Alice absolutely loves cactuses. She had to salute this fine example. Bird of Paradise, Brock's favorite flowering plant. A leaf. A leaf? A leaf. And a cool train scene that took up one of the domes entirely. Omg. I love this hotel,

Brock went to school as a snake. He normally doesn't participate in "Spirit Week" at school, but this day was dedicated to dress like your favorite character. Mostly, he just wanted to dress like a snake. I get it. So we decided that he would be Mr. Snake from the Bad Guys, who is a favorite character. This was a halloween costume from 2020 COVID, and I didn't get any pictures for some reason of our family of snakes. So here is a decent representation of at least our king cobra.

Easter 2022

Image
You just saw this photo! But to catch you up, we went to Florida for spring break, and dyed Easter eggs there. We flew back to Chicago on Saturday just in time for the bunny to make an appearance. The Bunny did his/her/their usual graphic clues. This year Alice was INTO it. And got it after the first clue. Brock's clues were way to easy (the bunny was tired after his/her/their travel from Easter Island). More math clues for next year we'll request from the Bunny. So Brock found his basket fast and got in a little on Alice's hunt. Although she was rocking it fairly fierce. Yay! Success! The Rays are feasting from the Easter basket spoilage. As usual we had ribs and carrot cake. It was an exceptionally delicious cake this year. We took a break to have some bubbles with the neighbors then returned to eat more sugar and build legos. They each got a paint your own bird house in their baskets and concluded the day with some spring inspired artistry. Ta DA! And a happy Easter to a

Matt looking very calendar ready in our Airbnb pool. This place was great, you can see the Kennedy space center from that dock. Launches would have been amazing! But the pool's beauty is hiding its extreme polar temperature. We sadly barely swam in it it was so cold, even for the kids. But I and maybe Brock did at least jump in each day once for our daily "constitutional" we called it. Speaking of Kennedy Space Center, let's go there! Here we are outside. They recommend you start with the bus tour that takes you out to the shuttles and the Saturn V/Apollo center where you can see that big building (it apparently has its own clouds it's so tall, Matt says he went inside when he was a boy, but you can't anymore) and then .... The Saturn V! Insane. HUGE. These pics don't do it justice.   A giant missile garden next door and yet the crocs are not afraid. Artemis! The new NASA shuttle! This view is from the space center, but you can see it from our pool! A su
