Somebody likes to go discing

Image
Yesterday it finally got nice enough to go discing. It was probably the longest I had gone between disc golf trips in over 10 years, and for Brock it was the longest discing break of his entire life. Boy was he happy to get back out there. Of course, once he realized that he was just going to be sitting in his stroller for a couple hours while we had all the fun, he got slightly less agreeable. Still, it was so much better than being couped up at home, and we are all anxiously awaiting the next warm weekend.

Laughing Brock

Image
Brock's alphabet blocks have little holes that essentially make them squeaky toys as well. Brock's slightly amused by a squeak, but it's the sound of air getting sucked back into the block that he finds hilarious.  (excuse the video quality. old phone)

Little MAN looks goooood

Image
I thought this was a picture, but I must have hit record on the camera instead.  Here is the young gentleman presenting his office casual look - onesie courtesy of the Grandma C winter collection... Thank you Grandma C!  I am ever so foxy... Matt looking rather debonair, Brock looking cute, alien looking moist.  Since we are on topic, below are some mommy/daddy's little tiger adorableness courtesy of Grammy Pierce After a massive butternut squash trail was left on the above ensemble, he changed into the snuggle fleecy suit that is part of the tiger series.  Sadly, he passed out in it with his shoes still on (we were going to head for the brewpub for a pint but were intercepted by emergency nap time) then he relived his bakalegurt (yes, that is the proper acronym for banana/kale/yogurt hybrid) all down the front before we thought to snap a photo, but trust that it was equally adorable.    So to give you an idea of Brock's awesome

Happy Spring!!

Image
Ok, so our Spring started out with snow this morning, but now it is sunny and beautiful!  Although according to the interwebs, spring did not start in our area code untill 12:57 anyhow, so spring is officially lovely.  A wonderful spring discovery was made a few days ago... there must have been a little hitchhiker on the new plant I got from Home Depot, because when I went to pull back the curtain.... Lo!!  A beautiful butterfly!! I was hoping Brock would be entrance by our fabulous friend, but... he was too busy being cute.

Brock and Maeve

Image
Maeve is my dearest friend Sarah's little girl.  She is one of 6 of Brock's potential harem born within 3 months of him.  Lucky little guy!  Here is a quick shot of Brock at Maeve's Christening party.  Apologies about the quality of the phone-to, they were so darn cute together a blurry photo was better than nothing!

Jammin' in our Jammies

Brock has always loved listening to me play guitar, but now that he's slowly gaining control over his limbs, just watching and listening isn't always good enough. Brock has to touch EVERYTHING. His first attempts at helping me play guitar were pretty fruitless. Brock would just grab a few strings in a fist and pull them with all his might. But after a few days of working on it, he's almost mastered the open-handed strum. On his most attentive days we've played a whole verse of a song together before. His timing is pretty terrible, but i'll string the lyrics out so it just looks like he's having a hard time following the band's out-of-control frontman. Brock strums a few chords. Of course, he may not grow up to be a guitarist. Currently the piano is his clear favorite in the instrument department. It seems to mesh better with his arm-flailing way of life. Ticklin' the ivories.

Some More Brock Vids

Image
We recently lost the usb cable for our camera. Sadly, we are unwitting customers of Sony and their proprietary usb connections, so these videos have been trapped, aging on our camera while we awaited replacement parts. But the wait is over!! We'll start with a couple videos to show off what a better eater Brock has become since his first terrible dance with solid foods.  This was the fist time we gave Brock Greek yogurt. We had no idea that he would find it so tangy and sour. He kept going back for more as we raced for our camera to capture his silly and contorted faces. Unfortunately, he was almost fully acclimated to the taste by the time we were rolling. Here you can see a pretty good eye twitch on the first bite. Then it all faded. Yogurt might never be this much fun again.  Here's a regular afternoon meal of sweet potatoes with Brock, made painfully awkward by our dinner-guest, Sony CyberShot.  Brock did this weird thing for a few days where he

A Day at the Park

Image
Today it got over 50 degrees for the first time in forever, so it was off the park! Brock hasn't really been at a park since Thanksgiving in Seattle. We're not really sure he remembers it. Regardless, Brock is going through so such drastic changes in awareness it seems like he's reexperiencing everything for the first time all the time. And most of it delights him. He liked sitting at watching all the other kids run around and play and splash in the snow puddles, but nothing could match his love for the swings. We waited a good 10 minutes or so for one to open up (a busy day at the park amidst such a brutal winter) and Brock was not really sure if he'd like what happened next.  (excuse the video quality. i only had my phone camera, and two arms) Lucky for us, a couple of the swings cleared out and remained open (Brock was putting on quite a show, and I think the parents were just embarrassed that their children weren't nearly as cute), so we swung and sw
