Sing us a song, you're the piano Man-child

Image
Mom and dad found this horrifying/amazing piano/desk contraption second hand and had the correct insight to know that it was destined to be a hit with little man.  He has been too squiggy to demonstrate his skills in front of the grandfolk so we captured a bit of the melodious maelstrom here. There is an enjoyable feature that makes each key an animal sound.  Matt and I can't get enough of the dolphin, but Brock is more partial to general button chaos.  More than an instrument, the piano has been fabulous support for Brock's increased standing strength and mobility.  Here is a clip of him using the piano as a walker.  Seriously though, who is Fisher Price's color consultant?  Clash-o-rama!  Oh well... I am being slowly broken of my attention to interiors, one plastic baby monolith at a time.   C'est la vie.

Eating Stuff.

Image
I am in the process of weening Brock in preparation for my/our trip to Poland.  It will be exactly a year, so I guess that is ok.  I am down to 3 nursings a day, and he is taking either cow or expressed milk in-between.  I'll cut one more out every two weeks till I depart on the 25th of July.  Pureed food is not a priority anymore as he is enjoying gumming fruit, rice, chicken and anything else.  He is picking up cheerios, but sticky fruit is still pretty challenging for him.  It seems we are not to be spared of the tribulations of picky eating; the sweet potatoes he once adored are left in their frozen cubes of rejection.  There is always room for bananas and any other fruit however.  Here is just another view.   He is also drinking from a cup.  After trying every sippy cup on the market, Brock seems to be a straw user.  He has a couple of those that he is drinking water from. Yeah!!

Happy Father's day!!

Image
Here Brock mirrors daddy.  I hope that remains true as he gets older because Matt is quite an amazing man and an equally amazing dad.  Every day I remember this as his efforts allow me to do my Holly stuff while getting to know his awesome son in the process.  What a great team! I am a little tentative to post this, as it was done on the fly, but here is a greeting to my dad that we made to load onto his much needed new ipod from Jake and I.  The practice one is more entertaining.  To me, at least.

Just goofin' around

Image
I feel like every week our little friend is learning things much faster than I can blog them.  He has stood up on his own holding on to nothing, and taken steps with assistance from all furniture that is not attached to the ground.  He has always had a ball with balls, but has taken it to new heights as he chases around, bounces on his own and lays down and wrestles with the many rubber orbs in our house.  Here are some action shots:   In my last show, I found the perfect prop dog for the stage.  Instead of being reimbursed, I opted to keep the creature around for future shenanigans. Brock seems to have tamed the dopey hound.   Ah ha!  Brock poses with the scalp!   My little stay puff.   In case you haven't met Murry, here he is (furry + monster =), Brock's security pal... yes, yes, we have three of him, all equally chewed and loved.   Another tough day at the office.

Summer Days

Image
Just some summer fun with the little goo. Brock can now pull himself to standing on a regular basis and particularly loves the fridge.  It is a nice distraction when doing dishes.  The chocolate sauce is especially tantalizing. Matt playing a triple header down town on the most perfect summer day.  Mom and dad joined us... Larry was an adept cheerleader and actually followed the game very well. A celebratory fly - three wins out of three games for the Dogz! Whoof!

Family O' Rama!!

Image
Brock had the ultimate family extravaganza this weekend!  My aunt Sara-lu celebrated her 80th at my show, and the whole crew, Uncle Gene, Aunt Barb, Uncle Jerry, couz Carol and Greg and grandma and grandpa Thomas had a living room party!  Brock did pretty good, considering, but was a bit mom-clingy. The Cerney boys!!   Yay, we remembered to take pictures. Two pictures even!  Thank you Bob and Freda for love, laughs, delicious fishes, and good weather. After a visit with the greatest of great grands, my mom and dad, Brock, Matt and I  took off for Indiana to visit my dear cuz Kristi who was visiting her mom and dad in Manchester.  We were 3 months apart when we were born, and our sons are 2 weeks apart!  Here she is with little Sam!   Brock is ever the stoic darling, Sammy a bevy of smiles.  Only in comparison in this photo do I get what people say when they say Brock is a big boy. Manchester is where mom and dad met at Manchester c
