Disc Golf Weekend
We decided that our one free weekend till Halloween was in some desperate need of plans! Every summer disc/golf camping expeditions become top leisure priorities. Last year I managed to complete the arduous and amazing Justin Trails course in Sparta WI and sleep out in the rain at a healthy 6.5 months along. How could we deny Brock an equally marvelous experience? It had been far too long since we had visited two of our most beloved courses in the brewery infested region of Michigan. Game on! Gathered experience from our St. Louis excursion brought us to the conclusion that the Mini is, indeed, a rather small vehicle. We deduced that there would not be room for Brock, Brockstuffs, camping gear, and both parents. So we compromised on the camping and found a fully-equipped no-frills cabin rental on a lovely little lake located somewhere between the courses we wanted to play.
The cabin came with a fishing boat, temperate lake water grand for plunging, a slide, and a three-foot-long black swimming snake (good golly I almost pooed myself).
Perfect weather and we are ready for the day!
We started at Mason county park. It has three great courses but we tempered ourselves to just one, "Beast". With steep inclines and backwoods paths, Matt and I had our strolling skills and our derrière muscles called to duty.
This weekend was the true test for Craigslist Phil&Ted stroller: A+!!
Matt clearing a path.
Just a sprinkle, nothing to fuss about.
Yay! Awake for the last two tees!
Time passes. Steaks are cooked, a lake swam, a fire enjoyed, mosquitoes cursed and lunch at Jamestown Brewery had. The next day, we see Matt above teeing off at Flip City, one our most beloved courses.
Wait! I do have a photo to add! This Brock eating his veggies at the Jamestown Brewery.
Flip City is famous for funky rock stacks scattered throughout that are ceremoniously placed by anxious players paying tribute to the God of Accurate Puts (GOAP).
GOAP answered with a mysterious sign.
Matt's turn. I was still recovering from a 6-wiper on the grass the day before.
There are charming shelters throughout the course with messages from patrons past.
Apparently Brock can get out of his crib and go to Michigan on his own without us knowing...and spell his name.
For our trip's grand finale we drove an extra 20 minutes to hit brewery hot-spot, Grand Rapids. Brewery Vivant was the main attraction, with Belgium-inspired crafts set in a renovated chapel and really tasty food. I had bone marrow! Who am I? Must be the beer. Brock tends to charm on most of our outings but his baby pheromones were in especially high gear - I think every staff member in the joint stopped by to say hi. We took home lots of souvenirs and left some of our own, namely turkey chunks, cheerios and, sniff, I think orange rattle ball (have you seen it Matt?)! Thanks GOAP for the awesome trip!
