The great room and beyond!

Image
It was time to introduce art to the mix after Brock had a sample of the power of the ink pen.  Below is a video of his first attempt at greatness.  We have since given him additional opportunities to show his creative side, but actually his first attempt has been the most successful.  He since has had too gentle of a touch to produce a real mark. The masterpiece revealed.   Brock has mastered the step stool and thus discovered the pestering possibilities for unsuspecting parents.  Here he getting a vantage point to turn off and on the fan/light from its remote.  Through his experimentation we learned that our house was not haunted after all and that the light had a dimmer.  The light over the game table had been quite dim for a while; we tried changing light blubs, frequent dusting, to no avail.  Thank you Brock!   Mostly he removes dishes from the dish rack and then trusts them back into whence they came.  His playground skills

A Lovely Day

Image
As Brock becomes more and more of a walker, the playgrounds we visit are finally coming to life for him. Brock even loves just running around in a big empty field. On this particular day, Brock took an interest in clover flowers. He was a bit too gentle to successfully pick any, but I picked one for him, and it became his best friend.  Clover must come up the stairs... Clover must come through the tunnel... What do we have here? Money!? Forget that clover guy.... My penny friend must play with me now! Ok dad. Let's go on a milk run! We got home, had some milk, and then relaxed and brushed our teeth. Brock is fascinated by toothbrushes. Let's hope his love of dental hygiene lasts. Brock even helped his dinosaur friend brush up. He was a little quick for the camera, but he made sure to get all those tough-to-reach back teeth. I have vivid memories of a baby picture of me that my parents took. I crawled under an end table an

Random Stuff

Image
Here's a bunch of random stuff that's gathered on my phone: Brock Dances! Brock Toasts! Brock Jams! Here's a shot of Brock trying to comfort Maeve. I was babysitting Maeve and she was having a really hard time after her mom left. Brock tried everything to help. He brought over all his favorite toys and books, and even offered his Murray (security blankie). After about an hour and a half of crying, his sweet streak ended. Brock picked up his stacking rings and threw them at her. Bad Brock! Eventually Maeve took a nap, and woke up as happy and friendly as ever.  \

Playground evolution

Image
With Brock's new mobility skills, the playground has taken on new levels of fun and exploration.  Swings are for babies!!  (he still likes a good swing, let's not be hasty). Here Brock is getting "wormied"....   A finger worm sneaks up on him and gives him a friendly burrow into his baby chest.   He loves sauntering up to the bear and giving a snug. The last time I took him in the mesh tube, he was just crawling.   He had a little trouble at the end, but made it through! Below is a video of him walking around on October 8th.  Note his sea legs. Just five days later, he has gained exponential mastery of his limbs.

While Daddy is Away

Image
The Brock will play!  Just a few picks of ladies brunch with baby Maeve and some randoms.      Dear friend Trish gave Brock a belated birthday gift, "Rainbow Fish and the Blue Whale".  Maeve was very intrigued by the shiny scale on Rainbow Fish.  Maeve, like most girls his age, was very forward with Brock.  We didn't have the camera speed to capture her moves, but trust they were not to be mistaken.  Brock, ever smug, seems to return the smiles only of older women. Making eyes at Trish. Brock is getting his first taste of the Bible.  Not sure if he digested it all. The most adorable note about this picture, and perhaps it was totally random, but I told Brock to wave at the camera for daddy (was going to send him a morning pic) and he turned around and came running at me waving both hands vigorously.  This is all I could capture.   Brock with Morgan at her moving out sale.  Some good finds as you can see.
