Some Random Pics

Image
Here's a few pics that didn't seem to go anywhere else. Grandma and grandpa got Brock this fantastic chaise lounge as an early birthday present. Brock loves it, and was fully lounged when I pulled out my camera. Pulling out your camera is a guarantee that Brock will quickly move, destroying the shot you had set up. Brock decided that if Daddy was laying on the deck to take a picture, this must be the best place to lay. He's a pretty awesome lounging buddy. Brock is a big fan of hiding in "forts." Here he is getting into position is one of his favorite spots at our local park. I see you! Brock and I have been hitting up the children's museum about once a week since we got our membership. Weekday afternoons are nice and quite, and we can pretty much do whatever we want. Here's Brock steering a boat at the new rotating exhibit on sailing. There are a few full-sized boats in the room (sadly no pics) that you can climb aboard and

Things Brock Says

Image
Brock is quickly moving from the realm of two-word phrases into full-blown sentences. It's amazing to see him test out different word orders, and verify new concepts. Here are a couple of my favorites from the past couple days: After I turned off the kettle, "Dadda turn off tea water." While eating applesauce, "Applesauce goes in the mouth!" Starting a second applesauce pouch after finishing the first, "Other one empty. This one full." (ok, I know, zero verbs does not a sentence make, but this is a good concept to master.) Any time that is rains Brock will point out, "water come down from the sky." Brock's funniest sentence requires a tiny bit of back story. Brock has recently had a mild obsession with boobs. He'll grab mom's and say, "two boobs," and one morning he ran through the house waving a bra and yelling, "pink boobs! pink boobs!" A couple days ago, he grabbed my chest and said,

Ceder Rapids Update

Image
Matt and I did not coordinate post pics. I added a few just at the beginning ... Matt went to great length to retrieve discs. This video went to great lengths to record them. You will get the idea in a few seconds likely. ... and back in to get Jim's disc. I think. This might be the first dive. It was long, I didn't re-watch. It was highly entertaining when when we were there. Sunday best! Bible Bible Bible! Brock wanted three Bibles, we stopped at two. He did pretty good at Kristine's wedding except for all the Bible requests. And making Matt draw pictures inappropriate for church on the donation envelopes. The Devil and pornography (Murray and a picture of a toot). and... we are back where Matt started... We spent mother's day in Cedar Rapids this year. Holly, Brock and I packed our gear into our brand new mazda 5, is is a wagon? is it a minivan? no one knows, but we all fit! and set off west, meeting the Cerney grandpar

Pee-Pee Butt-Butt Fish

Image
Brock is getting better and better at pronouncing words, but he still has a few adorable hangups. Usually, his modus operandi is to simply repeat the first consonant sound in a multi-syllable word: Murray becomes "MurMur", penguins are "PePings", another is "an an." He just started to put the T into "water," so this magical time seems destined to end soon. It's time to document his funniest... Brock and I were playing with trains in his room when Brock turned to me and exclaimed, "Pee-Pee Butt-Butt Fish!" I could only respond with, "what??" "Pee-Pee Butt-Butt Fish!" Brock was insistent and I was still very confused. "READ Pee-Pee Butt-Butt Fish!!" Ohhhhhhhhhhhh! I now realized that Brock was asking for one of his favorite books: Peanut Butter and Jellyfish. It's the delightful story of a seahorse and jellyfish that eventually save and befriend their annoying nemesis Crabby.  There&

Say "Raccoon"

Image
Brock was playing with animal coffee mugs from the grandparents, when he said, "raccoon" in the cutest way. We pulled out the camera to reproduce the magic, and got Brock describing everything else intead.

Brock knows.... shapes!

Image
We have been working on colors, letters and numbers for awhile and realized we had been neglecting shapes! How rude! When we sat down today I discovered that Brock already had a pretty good idea of the names of shapes and we just hadn't asked him before or it hadn't come up in conversation. I got a snippet of today's shape session.

Flower show

Image
On our Friday excursion we hit the Lincoln Park Zoo's lovely conservatory to partake of the flower show before the Mother's day weekend rush. It is quite challenging to take pics when you are solo with a noo noo on an outing! I did manage to snap a few.   Brock getting prepped for the flower show by visiting the wares at the Jewel Osco. Yes, he is in his pajamas. At least he is wearing clothes.  Can you find all the dinosaurs? Oh, we are at the conservatory now, Jewel Osco does not have a wishing well commemorating prehistory.   Brock counted 4! Did you find any more?  Water elements are Brock's favorite. He spent several minutes scaling the fence and asking for "shoes off". Wow. I took so few pictures. I'm experiencing a wave of post-blogging-posting-anxiety. It is a clinical term that refers to the moment when you are not sure if it was worth the effort or not. Oh well, I'd better go take something for that. Brock lov
