Brock's visit to the ER

Oh my goodness. Maybe it is too soon to post this. Brock and I went to return some earrings, he was in his stroller two feet behind me while I was transacting with the the clerk. Wails, panic, mayhem. Brock was trying to reach for a pumpkin or something on the table and basically stood up in the stroller to grab it. Strollers are meat to roll, and this one did not fail to do so. I retrieved my little guy from a back down position. No scars, no bumps, just a sad sweetie. We went home. It was nap time. He had an usually difficult time sleeping, he kept tossing and calling for me and it was weird. Then vomiting. Then he tells me his head hurts. Something was up. Fearing that he had hit his wee noggin in the fall I called his doc and also Matt to cut short his Friday plans. While we were waiting for the doc to call back Matt came back and more vomiting followed. No temperature. We decided to head to an immediate care clinic when the doc called back (simultaneously while Brock threw up again) and recommended that we take him to the ER at the children's hospital. Oi Oi Oi. Ok, so we go. Lurie Children's hospital is pretty awesome. Fish tanks everywhere, giant humpback whales hanging from the ceilings and no wait. Not so bad. We went in right away to exam room 5. Brock was excited to sit on the bed (yes, he seems to be doing better at this point) and by the fish and penguins on the wall and ceiling. We had just watched an Octonauts that featured a damsel fish and Brock was able to point one out (with some clues) on the ceiling. We met doctor Steve, so nice - Brock began "Brocking him up" immediately. Then we met Dr. Lucus. More Brock charm. Then the official doc, Doc Yanni (too difficult a Greek name to say, although Brock gave it a real college try winning a few more points). More waiting. Basically, a CAT scan for concussion is not so good with radiation, so they only do it if they really feel like they are going to go in there and do something. Thank the stars Brock was not in that zone. So after an examination from each doctor, they gave him some apple juice and basically wanted to see if he would keep it down. We waited forever, at least an hour and a half. The docs got tied up with a real emergency that reminded us how lucky we were with a giggling and being regular Brock. The nurse gave him a Popsicle of his choosing (grape, purple more specifically) and after she left he says, "I LIKE that lady! She was fun to play with!). He liked everyone he met there. We were beyond ready to go home by time Dr. Yanni came back (looking like he had actually been through something quite stressful in the wait between) and gave us our discharge. Mild concussion. No goose eggs, nothing to show for it, Brock said he was "feeling a little better but not too better". I was given an indirect lecture about using the straps in the stroller, and we headed home. Halfway there, more vomit, after 3 hours of him seemingly feeling great. We decided turning the car around was not in our best interest, and we hoped pot roast and bedtime would do the trick. It seems it has. Brock was fine the rest of the night and this morning. He talked about how much fun he had at the ER followed by us telling him that we hoped he never went back!
