A jiggly O'Hallows
It's that holiday time again! You are thinking this was going to be a Christmas post as it is almost Christmas time, but no! In blog years it is still October! Which means Halloween!
We pick grapes as part of our anniversary events and Grape Delight pie is now an annual event. Doesn't it look tempting?
Brock's pumpkin carving. That is Alice's knobby gord to the right. She was a bit knobby in personality back then so we thought it fitting.
Matt's Russian-nesting-doll-esque pumpkin... a scream within a scream within a scream. You can't really see mine to the right but it is a coiled up cobra.
You probably thought Alice was preparing to administer brain surgery, but no, she is a tiny jellyfish. Brock's choice this year was, indeed, jellyfish.
Here is Matt as a Portuguese Man of War and a better picture of our little brain surgeon jellyfish. We are at Boopallooza, an annual event in Wicker Park.
Sooo, Matt won a prize for one of the best adult costumes, sort of by default for our whole family. They passed us up for best family costume, and one of the judges was like, "no way, you guys have to win something" and since she was in charge of judging the adults, she gave us/Matt her vote.
We won 50 bucks to one of our favorite taco joints; we almost broke even on our costume investment.
And finally the moment you've been waiting for... Brock as a jellyfish! I was also a jellyfish for Halloween in my youth and basically copied the costume mom made me. But, I added LED lights for bioluminescence. I am a piece of kelp. Which is a bit how I feel these days... a little slimy and limp and trying to go with the flow.
The sea family!
Everyone is asleep here after the day.
This was a few days before. I see a common theme. We've been busy.
On actual Halloween, his class had a costume parade. Brock told me that Ms. Wilson said that his costume was the BEST she had EVER seen! He was beaming, and so was I a bit. At parent teacher conference she also referenced his adorable jelliness.
So this year we decided to trick or treat in our new hood. One of Brock's freind's dad confirmed this was a good choice. We spent our first night camp out style in the new house and checked out the goodies on Hoyne street up close and personal.
Turns out our new street is THE trick or treating destination. The fancy houses were decked out and loaded with candy. Brock went with his friend Mckai and his mom and us and we had a blast. That's Mckai as a police officer behind Brock.
This house was crazy amazing. That is Brock's lights on.
But Brock's favorite part was handing out candy at our new house. This was my first time too! This Halloween just cemented that our new house and hood were going to be a great fit and a real "treat". Can't wait for next year! Brock already knows what he wants to be... but you'll have to wait till next Christmas to find out!
