Summer in the city with the Knights and Cerneys

We have a house! But, truly, a house is not a home till the humans we love are in it! And such humans abounded this summer. We started out the season with an epic visit from the Knights of Seattle, comprised of Melinda, Mark, Max and Madeline. And it's simply not a party without the GParents of Omaha. Par usual, we are too busy having fun to take pictures, but darn it, it happened and it was grand.

In the Gypsy wagon on our way to an adventure! Since there is no Matt, I think we are going to the Field Museum today. Or maybe he took the picture. No, he wasn't there. Was that you Melinda who took this? Wow, we cannot even bother to take a picture with our own phone when we are taking a picture with our own phone. Great work.

Alice deep underground in her cicada shell.

A two headed cicada! An amazing find.

Alice is testing out the beds of the ancient Egyptians. We debated coming back down for nap time.

Madeline is very relaxed.

Oh so relaxed. Yes, their pillows were a wooden stick. I love my here and now.

Then the boys and I headed down to a White Sox game! Versus the Mariners! Oh the drama of a cross national showdown! Mark was on his own though for the Mariners, as I think Max might be an even bigger White Sox fan than Brock. His team he plays for in Bellevue is also called the White Sox and has the same colors as their Sister City in Chi. A hat was purchased.

Here are our super-fans in their natural environment.

Max swings for home in the Kids' Zone.

Brock pitches a perfect game.

The fourth inning stretch. Baseball watching is hard (says the writer of the blog entry).

Now, journey in your mind and imagine a tornado in Maggie Daley Park, torrential rain, VERY slow service at the famous Miller's Pub,  a meal with good service and taste delights at Sepia with real adult conversation, a birthday ladies stroll to the shops, jumping at a trampoline park, a MAJOR farce/tragedy regarding a camper, a reservation, and the restaurant who's name shall not be spoken (Paradis Park) and an overcooked steak. See how great your mind did at capturing these exceptional moments? Let's remember this for the next post. Despite the upsets, we are so lucky to have had our dear family, who are our friends, christen our house with their magic. Happy Birthday to Melinda, which was a day that at least was memorable, and thank you for making the trek to the land of Murder, Weather and Sports (sweet home, Chicago).

Added bonus: Post about this lovely time we all had from the Knight's blog,  Knights Life!! . Where the pictures are fabulous and the moments are more complete. Such as, HOW DID I FORGOT TO MENTION JULIE'S BIRTHDAY??!!! Which was a few days prior to Melinda's that we got to have Julie for, and was great!!! But I did not mention because of course I have no pictures. So if you are reading this update, yay, I feel more complete.
