Wis Camping Epoch

Image
This year's Wisconsin camping trip took us to a new (to us) campground: the High Cliffs State Park. Brock and Alice were able to explore the ruins of this old building. Holly and I couldn't fit.  The cliffs are clearly the stars of High Cliffs Park.  This area was NOT an approved state park hiking trail. But it looked too good to miss, so we ventured in.  I eventually made it down too. More cliffs! We found a giant teepee (on one of the approved trails). It was nice inside.  The cliffs all led down to a big lake. We skipped some rocks and searched for the coolest shells down here. Pictureless story break -- So they had a swimming beach, and we went to it after this hike to cool off. Brock brought his favorite catch disc (think frisbee) cause we like to play catch in the shallow lakes we visit camping. We had only been playing catch for a couple minutes when some tomfoolery led to the disc being lost underwater. It doesn't float. Brock is devasted and committed...

Alice is a superstar!!

Image
I am now a century behind in the bloggo-sphere. And will eternally remain so. However, I wanted to take a hot second to say that Alice was selected as class star for the month of September! I also threw in a couple of extra Alice zingers. Alice got to take home and fill out her star student poster. Hard to read, but she wants to be a scientist/farmer when she grows up, she loves crab and fish meat, her favorite subjects are math. Genius Hour, and recess, she is looking forward to Christmas, and this song that she made up with her friend (lyrics are what are on there) makes her laugh. And she is really good at skoll. Yes she is. Frida Kahlo day at school for Hispanic Heritage week. Alice wearing one of the outfits my mom made for me! She is wearing the colors of Nicaragua, also part of Hispanic Heritage week at her school. Students were asked to wear the colors from a flag of a Hispanic country. I love this person and am so proud of who she is and coming into!

Plains Road Trip

Since the manifestation of Grandma and Grandpa's camper van, the calendar has been screaming for a road trip! The stars aligned this summer with a 10 day extravaganza across the glorious plains and prairies of our fine Midwest.- The G's of Omaha already did an excellent documentation here:  https://jcwanderings.com/2024/08/06/2024-road-trip-with-chicago-crew/ But are you ready for more? Matt had work on Friday and the kids had their last day of a beloved Circus camp. But Jim and Julie got a chance to see their feats of skill and daring up close and personal in a final showcase! Here is Brock and Alice on their favorite, the German Wheel. Then also the silks and the trapeeze! Directly following the show, we made our way to the camper van to begin the magic!     Let's hit the road! High five. And, on display is my constructed game table cover to dial us down to medium alert while playing Crowns on the open highway.   Complete with a first place trophy that Brock m...
