maggie daley park

Chicago has been in the works of making some upgrades to its public spaces, an initiative under our newly elected second term mayor Rahm. Named in honor of the previous "first lady" of Chicago, Maggie Daley, her namesake park is nearly finished and super awesome. We had heard a lot about the place and our expectations were met I'm happy to say!

Each area describes its target age audience. We paid no heed of course, but it was good to know.

The boys on the bridge. We made the trek downtown at 8am, which was PERFECT. There was no one there. Rumors had it that the place got crazy in the late morning, and we saw its transformation as we were getting ready to head out. Also, Brock is in love with the bus and train so a morning in person ride tickled his toddler buttons.

The designers did not scrimp on danger. Matt and Brock are on the safer route pictured here. You can also see some of the landscaping is still in the works.

This slide made Matt and I yelp, and Brock had a bit of an out of body experience when he went down with Matt. He is recovering here. Although, the process of getting up there was much more harrowing. When I experienced the climb I was shocked that Matt had made it up there with Brockling.

No shortage of fun and beautiful city-scapes.

The rubber landscape was so fun, and so tempting to Brock.

We returned to the younger zone for some sea adventures.

Jeff and his boys, Jackson and Jonas met us later, but I have no documentation. They were very fun and supplied Brock with his daily limit of animal crackers.

Wwweeeeeeeeeeeeee!'ll be back as there were a few zones we did not even get to!  It will be fun to watch its evolution as summer flowers start to pop up and the lake effect loses its winter potency. Oh April, you are sooooooooo long and fickle!
