Oh Tannenbaum

I've been dreaming of this for twenty years! A REAL tree to bring in the season. Ol' pinky tree still remains ever-fabulous in her faux glory, but nothing compares to the real thing. We also wanted to start making some holiday traditions for the little guy that were special to both of us. For me, that meant waiting to behold the majestic monstrosity that dad commissioned from "our guy", a coveted 18 footer or so annually. For Matt, it meant an adventure into the woods to behold and select the fir that spoke to you. Sounded fantastic. So away we went to Bengstons tree farm to pick our pine.

I had one qualifier. Smell. I did my research and learned that fir family, particularly the fir family. Unfortunately, we are still quite a sniffley bunch and neither Matt nor I had our nose to help. There were no signs of what kind of tree this or that one was, so we went by shape and size. There she grows! A tip like a pine hill, it is a festive stick (literary reference)!

 Brock approves.
 The cut begins.
ta da! Oh my goodness stump smelled good!

Brock socializes with the natives as we procure donuts and cocoa.

Back in the hood, Matt and Brock tackle the lights. Both of us have always relied on fathers for this... there is truly an art! Happy holidays, and completed tree picture to follow!
