Super Moon
Oi Oi, apologies, it has been a bleak blogging season. Where are the days? Catching up on a few. Including THE SUPER MOON. A super moon is "the coincidence of a full moon or a new moon with the closest approach the Moon makes to the Earth on its elliptical orbit, resulting in the largest apparent size of the lunar disk as seen from Earth. This hasn't happened since 1948 and it will not be closer again until 2034. Brock loves the moon. Matt and him have had long discussions about gibbous and half moons, when the moon comes up and down and when we will see it. We marked moon cycles on our calendar. The guy is a fan. So you can imagine the magic of a super moon. The first night of super moon, we caught from our rooftop and took Brock to the "crow's nest" for the first time to get the ultimate view.
As you can see, this picture is not the ultimate view, just proof that we were there. Barley. Can you find it? Google some images if you want a decent idea of what it looked like. Sigh.
The following night, we decided to make a trek to the beach to catch it when if first comes up and hopefully get a chance to see its reflection in the water.
Our beach has sand! So we brought along our sand goodies. Brock insisted on making several turtle shapes (he insists they are frogs) and named them after all of the family.
Grandmas and Grandpas are all represented here as are Matt and I, and strangely, our downstairs neighbor Harris that Brock has maybe met (uneventfully) once. Kids.
