Brock's Bounces into 4...

Brock has been obsessed with me re-telling his birth story. It truly was quite possibly the most amazing day ever. Four years later, we quietly reflect on that magical time with some bouncing.

Breakfast is his choice...pancakes with peanut butter. He's never had these before. He will likely never have them again.

Brock got to open one gifty in the morning before school. Matt fondly remembered his Tangoes, knew he wanted them for Brock, and found an awesome starter kit. Matt said he would supplement with the cards that he had growing up. Good thing... Brock has already completed all the expert level cards that came with the primary board pictured here.

Here he is with a snooty tude in front of the ample load of goodies.

We did not give any ideas to Brock, but he said a while ago that he wanted a bounce party for his birthday. I have no idea where this idea came from. He's never been to a bounce house house, nor a friends birthday with a bounce house or anything (except G. Omaha's, not sure if that was the inspiration). Matt and I gave a heavy sigh...it seemed we were to be inaugurated into the feared suburban world of elaborate birthday parties. This was to be our "coming out" party for his school friends, as in, our gateway party to mingle with the children and parents of his preschool. But hey, no clean up!

Pump it Up bounce zone was the winner, and on a Wednesday afternoon with only children counting for the total guests, it wasn't as pricey as we feared. The place is a lot of fun: I guess maybe the camera angle makes it so you can't see here the projected game they are playing.

Here are the guests in order from left to right: Cathan, Ariana, Cormac, Jackie, Kade, Julie, Brady, Jackson, Jonas and Maeve...little Max and Brock are in the back. Not pictured, James and baby Rosemary.

So, Brock is doing a great job here. Let me tell you why. Pump it Up has a person there to take pictures of the bouncing to play in the party room during cake (and that you can buy of course) and she was REALLY doing her job. She was following Brock around tirelessly getting as many pics of him as she can. Brock hates this and finally tells me that she won't stop. Matt reported that he very nicely asked her to stop, which I guess worked pretty well because she slowed it down.

As you can see, he has had enough of pictures.

Crazy homemade unicorn poop cupcakes.

The room before chaos.

mmmk. So this nice gentleman featured here came up to me about 10 minutes before pizza/cake/party time to tell me that he is going to lead some games. I am laughing inside because I feel an epic fail coming on as I try to picture Brock enjoying any of that. But sure, ok, let's play some games with Brock and the crew. It went pretty not ideal but no one died. Brock said everything was too loud during singing and dance party. He enjoyed the game where we had to guess his favorite from a list of multiple choice questions, so much that he kept yelling out the answers.

This I think is a small sample of the madness while Brock is hiding under his throne. Sigh. In review, Brock said he loved the bouncing but did not like the noise and the lady taking pictures. I'd say it was a success!!

I requested folks bring Brock a balloon instead of a present. This led to all of us inhaling rubber for the ride home. You can't even see mom and I and Brock back there somewhere. Whew, it was fun, but I was ready for bed. Pretty sure Brock was too.

Brock did not open his gifts after he got home from his party. Too late, too much going on. So here he is the next day getting into it. Mom and dad stayed two nights to hit Brock's party then baby sit for us as we went to the Cirque show, Luzia. Above is a fairy book from G&G Donut, an inside joke, but he also loves the book.

Duplo carnival from G&G Donut. It was an awesome lego birthday with Brock inheriting cousin Max and Madeline's stash as well. He is now building houses for Jupiter and giant dump truck. Thanks family!

We had no idea what to get Brock, so we asked him, and he said he wanted Jenga. At a recent friends BBQ we had had a blast playing giant Jenga with him, so it made sense. This is definitely a gift that we expect to get some years out of, and that we might partake of as well!

Jenga has been a total hit and doubles as blocks.

Apparently, it is a gift that will last at least for 70 more years for Brock. Looking forward to it my amazing goo who I love to the moon and back again. Happy Birthday Brock!
