Brock's big 5
Well, amidst the chaos of a newborn, family, house falling apart there was a very special boy who sallied forth into his 5th year. Not wanting Alice's birth to overshadow such an occasion (thank goodness she had the decency to not come ON his day) we went the distance this year. He had originally said he just wanted to celebrate his birthday at the bus house with swimming, which I was delighted by, but come closer to the day, he said he really wanted a party with his friends. So we had 2 parties, pushovers that we (I) am.
On Brock's real B-day, he requested a bus house day with the Gdonuts. Super added bonus was Jake and Joanne and cousin Nate.
With 2 grand kids, a new lake inflatable was in order.
Brock's present quotient this year will not be sustainable. It was good timing with baby Alice and keeping it special, but I had to completely purge the toy shelf between storage and give-away to accommodate all the booty.
Awesome water theme from Jake and Joanne including lobster pincher and treasure.
Brock helps Nate break open his geode from Alaska and gets some pieces for payment for his observation.
I didn't know that Nate had taken over Solo's gig. I hope his movie is better.
Pond-ward ho!
Birthday dinner was corn, brats and also corn.
First cake... watermelon! At least on the outside, it was cherry flavored and very tasty if I do say so.
I was not allowed to use chocolate chips for the seeds, so I used dark maraschino cherry bits instead (but it could have been even better dangit with the chip bits!!).
Another successful ageing, now, onto the next party!
Brock requested a friend birthday as well, and after some digging I found the Robot Workshop. Build a robot with a small crew, sounds great. We had a much better turnout than I, the tiny space, or my wallet expected, but it was worth it for sure. We had a blast.
Combat bots to start it out and rile up the youngins.
Then a warm up kit to learn about circuits with highly animated propellers.
They work! Nice job circuiteers!
Then onto the main event. Brock got to choose in advance between 5 robots for the whole lot to build. After MUCH deliberation, he went with "fridge robot", magnetic and can climb walls.
Voila! Fridge Robot.
Then, cake time. Butler robot surprises us all carrying out the treats.
Complete with blinky tribute to the birthday boy.
There he is with the cupcakes heading down the hall. Matt, insert video below...
Robot cupcakes turned out great too, thanks mom for the help!
Not bad, one hell of a week I must say. Although with birthdays 10 days apart, likely the next 13 years will include one hell of a week. Love it all! Happy birthday to my little guy who really has been taking all this craziness with grace and smile. LOVE YOU BROCK!!
