Disc Golf Camping with the Gypsy Wagon
Grandpa Omaha has a marvelous new toy that we have lovingly named the "Gypsy Wagon" - a fabulous 80's camper van. We do an annual camping/disc golf trip to Michigan and now the Omaha G-rents can escort us in style!
First up, Flip City Disc Golf course.
Flip City is quite possibly our favorite family disc golf destination course. They are known for the numerous rock stacks the patrons of the course build along the way.
Carrots for power up.
Brock seems to be impersonating the frequent rock piles that Flip City is known for.
Alice defends us from a wayward rapscallion a-loose in the moor.
Here's grandma standing at the site of the best throw of the day: at least 150' straight into the chains. You can barely see the basket in the background.
See, I use my son urinating as the misdirection for my magic trick.
Awesome ice-cream spot right outside the campsite!
This campground was quite awesome, part of the package that we didn't see coming was a pleasant swim-able beach. The kids delight up to their knees...waists...shoulders.
Grandpa shows Brock the skills for fire building.
Brock's fire-dancing to honor the camp gods paid off. Gorgeous weather, no mosquitos, decent sleep, and no music being blasted by the site next door. But we didn't see that many stars that night...Brock must have missed a dance move in there somewhere.
And now a special treat for all! The Dutch Village in Holland Michigan! One of our favorite stops was actually open! And WE DIDN'T HAVE TO WEAR A MASK!!! As vaccinated humans we had our first (and apparently fleeting) taste of face freedom.
Alice in her especially festive chair.
Alice loves a good merry go round and Brock is clearly a good sport.
It's a girl! And a lady and a guy and smaller guy. Thank goodness they gave us the big stork.
Brock and I ride the Ferris wheel.
Alice likes it.
And some (halfway) friendly villagers stop to allow us tourists a picture. Brock looks more devious than friendly, I'm afraid.
Such cute kids (har har).
Fish in a bucket, the main attraction.
Not featured here, the AMAZING water balloon ship battalion complete with catapults.
Some final gypsy wagon snug reads before heading back to our respective cities. Thank you GOmahas for such a fantastic weekend. I hope it is the beginning of many!
