10 years of us and them

But wait! There's more! We have been wed for 10 years AND we have had children (or womb) for almost all of it! So we couldn't possibly not celebrate our anniversary without them. And we didn't want to miss out on our annual pilgrimage to the land where our union was actualized, Barrien County Michigan.

Our favorite B&B, Goldberry Woods. Here we are swinging a bit of shuttlecock.

Then a horse and buggy ride to the apples the next day. A new apple orchard, not as much variety as in years past, but they had Evercrisps. A varietal that we had not yet sampled before but turns out to be THE BEST APPLE EVER. Get some.

Garwood farms it was. The buggy driver tipped us off a good place to get a Christmas tree! There seems to be a horse and buggy syndicate in the area that are outsourced for all things field.

Apples. Mouths. Hands. Joy.

And no 10th anniversary is complete without a roll in the hay!

Defender of the orchard. You can see one of his downed enemies behind him.

Back to town to get some grub. The old fashioned way.

Oh yes yes pork rinds hot out of the fryer.

Then to the dunes for some VERY VERY VERY windy exploits.

buried treasure! We tried to get Alice up there, but she was not having it. Down a nap and mountain are not a good mix.

We were back in time for our dinner at Journeyman distillery, a favorite stop in Three Oaks next to our Liver-best shop, Driers. We always take a spin in the sculpture garden as we wait for our table.

Evercrisp appetizer.

Brock, the occasional adventurous eater, samples anchovies from Matt's salad.

Next morning we are off to our old friend Dinges for some maise maze and gourds.

Alice hanging with some kid.

The real drama of the trip is that I caught Matt in a tete te tete with a corn zombie witch. Always an anniversary buzz kill.

Alice makes friends. I had bribe her for this picture. My shame is always a negotiable price.

Brock not having the how tall this fall. I tried bribery, like before with Alice, but he is seasoned to my ways.

And then we picked concord grapes! Our wedding was on a grape field and we salute those sweet memories with a juicy bag full. I make a grape pie each year with the innards.

They. Are. So. Cute.

What a grape trip. I love these people more than anything.

I feel you girl.
