Halloween 2021
With Valentines day just completed, and copious amounts of candy around the house, I couldn't help but think of other events where there is candy which reminded me of Halloween which reminded me do something productive with the blog. Happy Hallotines Day!
We try to dress in a family theme every year, and I assume this will become more difficult as Alice gains even more opinions, but for now team Cerney presides. And what the He4%qklwj;alkfjaksldfj are we? Well, back to that everyone has their own opinions thing. So we went with a theme where we could sort of do our own thing but come together. So we chose "invasive species", and more specifically, "puns on invasive species". Below you have a lion fish, a zebra muscle, a cane toad and a gypsy moth. In tribute to our highly political and social justice focused climate, we came together to form the I.V.S.A. The InVasive Species Association.
No one got my "lion fish". I was either a cat or a mermaid or a sunflower to the simple minded public.
A dapper cane toad outside his dwelling. And everyone just thought Brock was toad from Frog and Toad. That I get.
Zebra muscle in its natural state. A slow clap for Matt Cerney people. No one got him either, but he did get the most smiles I think.
We always head local to "Boo Palloza" in Wicker Park to show off our costumes and have an event. Brock won the individual youth division! Turns out no one understood what we were as individuals or as a group, despite our very transparent and understandable sign :). BUT BRAVO BROCK!! AND, we accomplished our goal anyways...a new gift certificate to Jenny's ice cream! Our one from the previous, previous year win (none last year for COVID) had just run out!
Gypsy moth sucking on some nectar.
We then headed over to the neighbor's for a splendid halloween bash. And we were the only people who came in costume. I think Matt made quite an impression. And at some point, we ate the grape pie, featured above, harvested treats from our anniversary trip. Can't wait till next year!!
