Swimming

Image
Brock and I have been taking swimming lessons for a few months now. He loves it, and has truly progressed. He had anwesome weekend at grandma and grandpa's bus house where he got to show daddy his moves jumping off the island and swimming to him (pics to follow one day). In fact, he has  graduated to Goldfish Mini Jr... which essentially means "no-mom-in-pool". Sigh. Would this be the end of his love of swimming? Should I keep him a big fish in a small pool? Or gumption up and swim with the sharks? SHARKS is IS! This is day one. He HATES it! Oh indeed, no surprises there. I peeled him off of me like a neoprene wet suit, held out our adorable kicking maniac to our brave professional, and high tailed it out of sight. See his finger nibbling? This coping mechanism was maintained throughout the entire 30 minute lesson. I am telling myself that the other calm children have been doing this for many months. I'm not sure whose idea the ribbon was, I am guessing Br...

Weather(little)man

We visited the nature museum and they had a new exhibit on climate change. One of the features was a live action weatherperson roll play. Brock gave it a whirl with a bit of assistance from his trusty weather side kick, daddy. A bit tedious, but I think he has shown some real potential.

Brock's visit to the ER

Oh my goodness. Maybe it is too soon to post this. Brock and I went to return some earrings, he was in his stroller two feet behind me while I was transacting with the the clerk. Wails, panic, mayhem. Brock was trying to reach for a pumpkin or something on the table and basically stood up in the stroller to grab it. Strollers are meat to roll, and this one did not fail to do so. I retrieved my little guy from a back down position. No scars, no bumps, just a sad sweetie. We went home. It was nap time. He had an usually difficult time sleeping, he kept tossing and calling for me and it was weird. Then vomiting. Then he tells me his head hurts. Something was up. Fearing that he had hit his wee noggin in the fall I called his doc and also Matt to cut short his Friday plans. While we were waiting for the doc to call back Matt came back and more vomiting followed. No temperature. We decided to head to an immediate care clinic when the doc called back (simultaneously while Brock threw up aga...

Wine Country makes toddlers of all ages

Russian River Pinot's. Yes. They are super great. Mom and Dad, Jake and Joanne and Nate and Matt and Brock, also super great. So it made sense that we would one day capitalize on Jake and Joanne's strategic Californian location and get up in that fertile valley and taste some of its fruitful bounty! Disclaimer: this blog entry is mostly a total rip-off of its counterpost "Little Man Nate" blog entry from Joanne. THANK YOU!  As ever, we totally brought our own personal photographer with us, Everyone Else, so thank you for that as well. Outside J&J's house, Brock heads straight for the roses.   Bright in the morning we set out on our journey with a first stop at the Bay Area Discovery Museum, a fabulous mostly outdoor fun zone. Although a very foggy morn, you get proof of where we are. Brock hits the hanging noodles with vigor. Hoop dreams. As in dreaming that I could still make that hoop work.   Dad pointing ...
