Chicago History Museum

Image
Spring break was here and with it, the quest for activities. I scored a museum pass at the library (unheard of, especially during spring break... not sure what that says about the jive between the Chicago History Museum and children...) that gives us all free entry. Chicago's classic Matt-dog. and the highly popular Brock-dog double dog... daaaang that looks good.  Chicago's first steam engine with a crazy engineer. I'm told child labor wasn't really a thing then... The first EL train in Chicago! A highly distinguished and plush (not bad for 5 cents a ride!) If I was riding during the time I might never have gotten off to go to work. Unless I was less than 5'8"... I had to stand on my tip toes to reach the standing rungs. Matt told me that there were gentlemen then and that I likely wouldn't have had to stand. Who knows how many ladies were even riding the EL then...

Waffles

Matt's newest fermented endeavor is waffles! He makes the most scrumptious yeast-ed version; it makes a absolutely delicious product. He has been perfecting his recipe over the past months to prepare for a pre-draft feast for the boys that happened last week. One of the drafters brought over his far superior waffle maker and Matt went immediately to the webs for purchase (after copious hours of draft recovery). The result was bliss!  We make homemade whip cream. Matt and I opt for berries or a fruit coulis where Brock is more traditional choosing syrup and finger full of whippage.

School shots (biannual edition? sheesh...)

Has it really been since July since I've posted school shots? Jeeze. Well, feel free to fast forward or something, but here is the man in action for his second year of Montessori Gifted Prep. Looks like there are some short wearing so that tells me it's been a while.  That's Alex sitting next to him, the "other woman".  Brock tends to gravitate to the practical works, although he does a lot of number works and draws every day.  Summer garden.  One of the moms is a very talented player and shared her skills with the class.  Brock and Lillian. That is Sophie, his fiance, sitting across from him.  Apparently the cookie cutter play-doh was a hot item, until the doh dried out.  "not another group photo"...  Drawing is likely his favorite activity and he is now calling himself an artist.  Practicing for the big test. ...
