St. Louis shorty

Image
Man we have been busy these days. Just a crazy time for us since I foolishly said yes to back-to-back shows. Anyhow, I was granted one weekend free in May and we tried to make the most of it by squeezing in our annual trip to St. Louis. It was gunna be short, just 3 nights and 2.5 days, but better than nothing. To add, the floor at the board of trade had been getting a little crazy, so we had to cut our 2.5 day trip down to 1.5 days and 2 nights. STILL TOTALLY WORTH IT!! Especially since I had to miss last years awesomeness. Turns out that May is not the best time for our trip. We thought we hit the weather jackpot for the normally sticky hot trip to the city of the arch, but not so. We stayed at our favorite hotel, at Union Station, but the great covered outdoor pool wasn't open yet, and because we only stayed Friday and Saturday night, they had weddings both nights so we couldn't hang out in the awesome bar with the projector ceiling. Additionally, the outdoor roof port...

Alice uprising

Oh these busy busy days. Anyhow, some proff that Alice is a fully independent eater and crawler and that the Cerney Periodical has not yet ceased.

At the store

I feel like this should be a deeper post. But here we are at the store. It was awesome cuz Brock agreed to let Alice sit with him in the car-t. He even let her touch him! Maybe the ice king's heart is slowly melting.

The Congress of the Alices

Image
Once a year, the Alices convene at the local Children's Museum to discuss matters import to Alicekind. This years agenda included a motion for shorter naptimes, a non-binding declaration of things that are best to chew on, and new regulations on appropriate milk temperatures.  The Alices start with the traditional greetings... ...ask important questions...  ...tell a few jokes... ...and exchange the secret pattycake handshake. C-SPAN was kind enough to give us rights to video of the proceedings. Click below to view.

Brock the reader

Image
Brock's class has been celebrating Dr. Suess and his birthday all through the month of March. We pulled out the Birthday Book and Brock had fallen in love with it. He has been doing a lot of reading at school and yesterday, when I suggested we read the Birthday Book, he took the reigns and read it for Alice and I. Now, yes, he has memorized some of for sure, but it is a long book, and not so easy! Bravo!

HERP is not an acronym

Ah yeah. Apparently that post a few days ago was all kinds of not-trues. Herpetology, uh, study of reptiles. K. Also, I was informed that Brock did not originate the spelling of Murray "MRE" and that was actually devised by his buddy (who he has totally gotten into Murray's and now says he wants one for Christmas). Here is a cute picture of Brock and Matt's matching pickle shirts to go along with my coming-clean post.

Kauaii: The No Rules Love Trip

Image
This trip has been 50 years in the making and also 80 years in the making! Laz and Shaz together and in love for 50 years and my daddy turns 80!! We were so grateful to celebrate these momentous events by making new momentous events with our WONDERFUL family who are also our friends. We began in beautiful California, with a great meal, vomit-ous joy (more on that) and then continue onto paradise... the island of Kauai!! First things first! A family portrait to honor Mr. 8-0! Jake and Joanne recommended the wonderful Shanti, their photographer from their wedding to capture our eccentric group - she did not disappoint! Here we are all sporting the Eagle River Duck Pond golf hat made famous by Larry. I even found a cap for the littlest of Thomas blood! Then it was party time. Joanne captained the festivity with a feast to celebrate dad's day of birth sooooo many years ago.  The menu was dedicated to Dad's favorites, including pot roast and creme brulee, and as alw...
