5 years of love! Annual fall outing to Michigan.
Dear Matt. Look at us! Five years later and playing with you is still my favorite thing. Adding Brock to the mix puts the snoogle in hyperdrive. It's that time of year where we head back to Berrien County Michigan to relive old memories, and make new ones.
We start the trip with the ol favorite, Tree-mendus apple picking.
Brock rushed up this year to see how "tall this fall" he was.
We always sample all the varietals they have to decide where to focus our efforts. These are Grimms, which I thought would be perfect for my apple cake.
Brock greatly enjoyed coming up with other fantastical varietals that we would hunt for including "lagga-lugis" or "pepos".
Even more than picking apples, Brock loved hiking and exploring. Going in, around and through bushes and groves. Matt follows along...
...with slightly less dexterity
apple us-ie? not sure where we are.
We let Brock try his first soda, our favorite, root beer. We labeled it as beer for little guys since we were at a microbrew. He was sold, having seen us partake of adult beer many times. Here he is enjoying...
Then Matt and Brock came up with some crazy root beer game.
and cuteness ensues.
we had time before dinner to play on the dunes.
This year, Brock was a very enthusiastic adventurer. He also easily scaled the steep dune with joy and pride.
then was delighted to explore further. We meant to get up to the top for the sunset, but it was too cloudy. Still super fun. We then ran at top speed down the bluff yelling "gravity" and, indeed, learning about the foils of the apple of Newton's eye. Brock made a grand finale by wanting to wade into the waves and getting much wetter than we hoped or anticipated.
Next morning we headed to Dinges for pumpkins and fall fun. Brock pulled the wagon this year.
and made all of the gord-geous selections you see here.
made some new friends...
Brock took on his first spook house... (or truck that is)
ahhhhhh!!!! a hand of doom!
Brock's excitement for the corn maze quickly faded. Not sure why, but it is a highlight for Matt and I so we pushed him through.
We finalized the trip with lunch at the Journeyman Distillery. Always a tasty time. Thank you my two deepest loves for another ode to our finding each other!
