Bowling with Brock
Brock discovered another new gem of a place yesterday. We had plans to go bowling at our regular haunt after swim classes. On the way to school, Brock asked about an interesting looking building we always pass.
"What's that place?"
"It's a bowling alley."
"LET'S GO THERE FOR BOWLING!"
I had always thought Waveland Bowl looked pretty old and rundown from the outside, so I spent 10 minutes trying to explain and talk him out of it, but he was determined. It's actually right next to swim class, so I decided we'd try it once. I was so wrong. Waveland Bowl is clean, empty, and beyond cheap. Kids bowl free all summer long. The one perceived drawback (which actually turned into a huge plus) was that they wouldn't let Brock use a ramp to launch his ball. Ramps are only for the disabled there. Brock was happy to roll with it. By the second game, he was completely missing the bumpers about a third of the time. The results were far superior to ramp bowling.

Here's a video of one of his awesome down-the-middle rolls. Yes, he picked up this spare, his first of the day. Sorry for no spare video. Even better, the 9 he rolled in the next frame put him squarely in the lead.
I kinda caught fire after that, but the pride on his face for those two frames of leading was incredible. He was still on pace to break 100 in the 6th, and finished off with a score of 90 which he proudly told to every single person on the way out.
Thanks Waveland Bowl and KidsBowlFree! We'll see you next week.
