zoo lights
I've heard about Zoo Lights at the Lincoln Park Zoo for many years, but I guess I never had enough inspiration to check it out. Brock is most certainly enough inspiration.
We started out with a cup of cocoa. Brock first warm chocolate was a hit.
Nom nom nom.
Brock's had quite an interest in dragons as of late. This guy with lit flames was a favorite of the night.
Brock watches the musical light show with seeming boredom, till he reveals his true feelings.
In case you missed it the first time.
Brock's boring show.
An us-ie in front of the lit up lion family. We felt a familiarity.
The resemblance is striking, don't you think?
No trip to the zoo is complete without a once around in the tiny train.
Well, turns out there was a very nice Santa at the Zoo Lights. We thought we'd try to arrange meeting. The line was just long enough to explain who Santa was, and hype him up a little. We informed Brock of the procedure: Santa is man in red, sit on man in red's lap, tell him what you want, and you get that thing. Straight forward enough. It also helped that there were giant mushrooms indigenous to this particular North Pole. Ok. Brock was actually pretty excited to meet Santa. I feel like you know how this is going to go already. We get up there, he is schmoozing with the elf helper when Santa is ready for him. A chorus of NOOOOOOOOOO's is sounded and the dance begins. I remind Brock to tell Santa what he wants and try to coax him into checking out the mushroom next to Santa. Brock then runs back and yells "ELMO!!" about two feet in front of the man in red, spins around and scampers away. I snagged the little critter for one desperate picture. We did not purchase this picture. Matt did get a little snap that is not too terrible considering. We'll have another chance to meet Santa next week, so maybe he'll be broken in by then.
Oh those Santa's cannot get paid enough.
